Scranton Tomorrow names Director of Planning and Development

January 31, 2008 – Scranton Tomorrow is pleased to announce that Maggie O’Brien has joined the organization as Director of Planning & Development.

Ms. O’Brien will serve as Project Director for the Lackawanna Riverfront development project, spearheaded by the Riverfront Partners: Scranton Tomorrow, Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority, the Lackawanna River Corridor Association and the Scranton Area Foundation. The Partners are charged with planning and developing an enduring vision for the waterfront, establishing a riverfront district, and promoting the river as a valuable resource. 

Ms. O’Brien comes to Scranton Tomorrow from the City of Scranton Office of Economic and Community Development where she served as Economic Development Specialist. She serves on Board of Directors of Leadership Lackawanna and the Lackawanna River Corridor Association. She is a member of the Everhart Associates, Friends of Nay Aug Park and the Scranton Public Library. Additionally, she is a professional local actor performing on stage, film and radio for more than 15 years. 

Ms. O’Brien attended Juniata College, where she studied Creative Writing and Drama, and Lackawanna College, where she studied Business. She currently resides in Scranton’s Hill Section with her daughter. 

Scranton Tomorrow is a leadership and visioning organization that mobilizes resources to improve the quality of life in Scranton, and works to establish Scranton as the premier urban center of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
