Board of Directors of Scranton Tomorrow is pleased to announce the
appointment of Leslie Memolo-Collins as Executive Director.
Ms.
Memolo-Collins comes to Scranton Tomorrow from the City of Scranton
Office of Economic and Community
Development, where she served as deputy director. At OECD, the
department that leads Mayor Chris Doherty’s drive to sell Scranton
as a good place to do business, Ms. Memolo-Collins spearheaded the
City’s efforts to assist existing small businesses, help start-ups
and recruit new businesses. She is active with Scranton Tomorrow’s
Downtown Merchants Group, and recently participated in a planning
effort held by the Group to determine its future strategic direction
and marketing needs.
She has been the Mayor’s liaison on a
number of major projects including the Casey Laundry Building,
Southern Union headquarters, the Ice Box, Riverfront Sports, and
Sauquoit Industries, and has successfully secured and managed millions
of dollars of Economic Development grant funding. She is also the
City’s point person on public works projects like the Medallion
Garage and the Providence Square revitalization. And she was a member
of what was called “a wonderful team of professionals” in The Bond
Buyer after Standard & Poor’s gave the city its first ever bond
rating.
Ms. Memolo-Collins is a graduate of the
University of Scranton with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. Her career includes
marketing and sales management in the insurance industry where she
created and sold specialized benefit products aimed at medium and
large companies throughout the northeastern United States for the
Knowles Group, Scranton and Hartford, Conn. She currently resides in
Scranton’s Hill Section with her husband and daughter.
Scranton
Tomorrow is a non-profit, non-partisan community leadership and
visioning organization. Founded in 1992, the organization works to
inform and engage community members to improve the quality of life and
establish our city as Northeastern Pennsylvania’s premier urban
center.
