APRIL
7, 2006 - Eric
Duffy and Gene McDonough, co-chairs for the 10th Annual
City Pride 2006 city-wide cleanup, invite the public to view more than
650 posters designed by students in grades 1-5 throughout the Scranton
area to encourage people to clean up and take care of their cities and
communities.
The posters will be on display at the
Mall at Steamtown from Saturday, April 8 through Saturday, April 15.
The public is invited to vote for their favorite poster, which will
represent the City Pride 2006 cleanup events. The top three winners
will be announced at the official City Pride 2006 Kickoff, scheduled
for Wednesday, April 19, 2005 at Marquis Art & Frame, Scranton.
City Pride 2006, entitled “Think
globally, clean locally,” will take place May 6th through
May 13th, and will include more than 35 beautification
projects throughout Scranton and the surrounding areas. Projects
include park clean-ups, landscaping projects, empty lot clean-ups, and
much more.
All community members are invited to
organize their own clean-up or volunteer to work on one of the City
Pride projects. A limited number of mini-grants for clean-up projects
will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis to non-profit,
neighborhood, school or church groups.
If
you are interested in participating in City Pride 2006, or would like
to suggest a clean-up idea, please call Scranton Tomorrow at
570-963-5901.
