APRIL
20, 2006 -
The winners of the City Pride 2006 Poster Contest were
announced April 19, 2006 at the City Pride Kickoff Event at Marquis
Art & Frame.
In conjunction with the 10th
Annual City Pride 2006 city-wide cleanup, students in grades 1-5
throughout the Scranton area were invited to design posters
encouraging people to clean up and take care of their cities and
communities. The posters were displayed at the Mall at Steamtown,
where the public had a chance to vote for their favorite
posters.
The winners are Allison Aronica from
St. Clare’s School, Danielle Rutkowski from Lincoln-Jackson
Elementary School, Selena Pagan from Prescott Elementary; and Abigail
Dempsey from St. Paul’s School. Each received a framed copy of her
artwork and a gift card to the Mall at Steamtown.
City Pride 2006, entitled “Think
globally, clean locally,” will take place May 6th through
May 13th, and will include more than 35 beautification
projects throughout Scranton and the surrounding areas. Projects
include park clean-ups, landscaping projects, empty lot clean-ups, and
much more. If you are
interested in participating in City
Pride 2006, or would like to suggest a clean-up idea, please call
