JUNE
12, 2006 - Lights…camera…action!
A Scranton native – fresh from Los Angeles – is bringing Hollywood
home with him.
Matthew Weiss, a native of Scranton’s
Hill Section, will be shooting his movie “A Night in the Hill” in
Scranton throughout July. The movie, independently funded and slated
for release in November, is “an inter-denominational love story, in
the vein of ‘Pulp Fiction,’” according to Weiss.
The
film will be shot entirely in Scranton, in conjunction with the
Greater Scranton Film Office, a project of Scranton Tomorrow, and will
feature local actors and crew members. Also, the movie’s first major
premiere will be in Scranton, at the Endless Mountains Theater.
Weiss
is a graduate of Wyoming Seminary, and Boston University’s College
of Communications. He recently completed internships at Lions Gate
Entertainment and Donners’ Co. in Los Angeles. In addition to
directing “A Night in the Hill,” Weiss has also started his
own production company, aptly titled “Hillsection Pictures, Inc.”
