Comcast
Partners with Scranton Tomorrow for Community Day of Service
October 6, 2006
– Nearly 40 local
Comcast employees and their family members will volunteer to clean up
along the Lackawanna River as part of Scranton Tomorrow’s Lackawanna
River Corridor clean-up project. This effort is part of Comcast’s
sixth annual company-wide day of service, and will take place on
Saturday, October 7, 2006 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Comcast
Cares Day is one of the largest single-day corporate volunteer efforts
in the United States. “Comcast knows the importance of improving the
quality of life in communities where our customers and employees live
and work,” said Comcast Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brian
L. Roberts. “We’ve seen that even a single volunteer can make a
measurable difference in the life of an individual and a community,
and we felt there was an opportunity to have an enormous impact by
mobilizing thousands of people across the country. We’re
extremely proud of our employees who have generously given of their
time and talents today and throughout the year to make their home
towns better places to live.”
This
year’s Comcast Cares Day volunteers in Scranton will join
approximately 30,000 other Comcast employees, their families and
friends in 32 states and the District of Columbia to help make a
difference in their communities.
“We
are extremely proud to be working with the employees of Comcast on
this wonderful effort,” said Leslie Collins, Scranton Tomorrow
Executive Director. “Their commitment to the community reflects the
values of Scranton Tomorrow, and we welcome them as a part of our
Riverfront project.”
