Scranton Tomorrow and Mayor Chris Doherty invite all
to Downtown Scranton for New Year’s Eve

December 15, 2006 – Scranton Tomorrow and Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty invite people of all ages, genders, races and ethnicities to celebrate the New Year at First Night Scranton 2007.

First Night Scranton, a project of Scranton Tomorrow, is the largest family-oriented, multi-cultural celebration of the arts in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It is an alcohol-free evening of art, culture and merriment in Downtown Scranton.

This year will feature more than 40 artists and performers in 20+ unique venues throughout Downtown Scranton. You can listen to some smooth jazz, rock in the New Year, learn African drumming and community dances from around the world, watch an opera, see beautiful artwork...this list goes on and on!

This year, there are two special venues dedicated to teens and seniors. Seniors can play bingo to the sounds of their favorite big band music, while teens can listen to and vote on the best of the best in local bands in a Battle of the Bands!

Shown, left to right, are: Jennifer Battista, Director of Communications & Special Projects, Scranton Tomorrow; Leslie Collins, Executive Director, Scranton Tomorrow; and Mayor Chris Doherty.

For more information about First Night, including a schedule of performers and where to buy your admission buttons, please visit www.scrantontomorrow.org.
