Scranton Riverfront Partnership

Scranton Tomorrow has taken the lead on the Scranton Riverfront Partnership, a cooperative effort of the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority, the Lackawanna River Corridor Association, and Scranton Area Foundation. The mission of the Partnership is to formulate a comprehensive master plan for the development of a Downtown Riverfront District that envisions new waterfront development, infrastructure improvements, and increased visibility along the Lackawanna River in Scranton.

This year saw much progress for the Riverfront Revitalization project, including the hiring of a full-time project director, increased media and community awareness of the project as well as the river as a commercial and recreational resource, and also continuous expansion of the master plan footprint to include new and exciting developments such as the medical college, the intermodal center, and the Artspace project.

Scranton Tomorrow has engaged the services of Wallace, Roberts & Todd, LLC, a nationally recognized planning and design firm who brings 40 years of experience working with major urban waterfronts. Wallace, Roberts & Todd will conduct a comprehensive, in-depth
assessment and will make recommendations to restore the Riverfront. The final plan will create a bright and attractive presence Downtown while restoring and protecting our history.
