Featuring live music and theater productions, the 3rd annual Pocket Park Live series starts Friday, Aug. 7 and continues through Saturday, Oct. 3 at Christopher A. Doherty Park on the corner of Linden St. and Wyoming Ave. in downtown Scranton. The series is a project of Scranton Tomorrow and the City of Scranton Arts Committee. All programs are free and open to the public!
FRIDAY, AUG. 7
NEPA Jazz Project, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. ― Comprised of a rotating group of local jazz musicians, this concert features Nick Driscoll on clarinet/sax; Mark Woodyatt on violin; Jon Ventre on bass; and Jacob Cole on drums. Enjoy their unique approach to jazz standards.
POSTPONED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER
Doug Smith’s Dixieland All-Stars, 6 to 8 p.m. ― One of the country’s original artforms, Dixieland is a subgenre of jazz dating back to early 20th century America. Doug Smith’s Dixieland All-Stars embraces a modern approach to Dixieland music while retaining the deep, traditional roots of this medium. In addition to playing traditional Dixieland favorites as part of Pocket Park Live, the band will perform an Armed Forces medley in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

Fringe Fest Preview, 7 to 9 p.m. ― Sample a few of the productions featured in the upcoming Scranton Fringe Festival this fall (Oct. 1 to 10) and mingle with some of the artists at this special preview during Pocket Park Live!
FRIDAY & SATURDAY, OCT. 2 & 3
Scranton Fringe Festival production of “The Wind in the Willows,” 6:30 to 8 p.m. ― Watch the characters in Kenneth Grahame’s classic children’s tale (Mole, Rat, Badger and Mr. Toad) come to life on an outdoor stage.
