Scranton Tomorrow is proud to organize

Small Business Saturday in Downtown Scranton  with its partners.

Our Charge

Scranton Tomorrow's Business Development Committee strives to position the Downtown Scranton Business District as the center of the community, and the hub of economic activity. The group meets quarterly to brainstorm, plan, and execute their vision to develop new traditions for a growing business district.

Our Commitment

The Business Development Committee is responding to the changing needs of the business community due to the global pandemic through a variety of new and expanded projects and promotions. Countertop Conversations is among the new projects developed in 2020. Through a series of Zoom sessions, we help to maintain open communication among business owners and community leaders in the City of Scranton.

Our Invitation to You

Dozens of Downtown business owners participate in the Business Development Committee quarterly meetings and Countertop Conversations. New businesses are always welcome. Members of the business community interested in participating are encouraged to follow us on Facebook, send us an email, or call 570.963.5901.

New banners featuring the Downtown Scranton Business District brand are now placed in key shopping and dining areas from Lackawanna Avenue to Mulberry Street, and from Jefferson to Franklin Avenues.

Our Seasonal Initiatives

  • The Summer of Scranton: After a challenging spring of full and partial closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Summer of Scranton campaign encouraged everyone in the community to support locally-owned businesses in Downtown Scranton. The campaign ran through July and included:  Independents "Indie" Week social media promotions, a video series on Style Mag Daily's IGTV featuring Downtown Scranton businesses, and a Christmas in July shop local initiative.

  • Fall Into Downtown: Our fall campaign continued support local initiatives with the Scranton Scarecrow Display throughout the Downtown Business District, promotion of Rally for Restaurants through a partnership with Lackawanna College, and the launch of Downtown Drive-Thru, a social media initiative promoting curbside and delivery services in addition to in-person shopping and dining.
